The book Arte y Cine. Movimientos Artísticos y Cinematográficos tras 1945, (Art and Cinema. Artistic and Cinematographic Movements After 1945), published in 2018 by Mario-Paul Martínez Fabre and Miguel Herrero Herrero, explores the main trends shared by the arts and the cinema in their journey towards contemporaneity, through the texts of a group of researchers and professionals from the cinema and the artistic field. In its pages, reflections around seminal movements are confronted such as the Nouvelle Vague(Godard, Varda, Marker, Rivette), Abstract Expressionism (Pollock), Op Art (Vasalery, Albers, Riley), Pop Art(Warhol, Morrisey, Lester), etc., which influenced filmmakers as Stanley Kubrick, Georgina Starr, Larry Clark, or Alex Garland, among others; while also addressing the transformation of the film medium towards the digital (Trumbull, Whitney) and its connection with plastic techniques such as post-photography (Wall, Deutch) or mattepainting (Dawn, Yuricich).
