Vicente Javier Pérez Valero is a Doctor of Fine Arts, professor, researcher and Area Coordinator for the Projection of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the School of Social and Legal Sciences of the University Miguel Hernández in Elche. He is also a member of the Massiva Research Group, which studies the interrelationship of audiovisual arts and mass culture, within the Department of Art at the UMH. He is also a graduate in Arts and Crafts in Graphic Design and Illustration from the Alicante School of Art (EASDA). Since 2006 he has been teaching in the Bachelor and Degree in Fine Arts and, later, in the Degree in Audiovisual Communication, within the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of Elche, and in the Master of Project and Research in Art (MUPIA), in the School of Fine Arts of the Altea Campus, UMH. In 2014 he obtained his PhD with the thesis The Projection of Drawing in New Technologies Applied to Higher Artistic Education with the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laude. Since 1996 he has worked, in the private sector, in professional positions such as director of photography, art director and creative in the field of advertising, as well as press photographer and graphic designer.

Currently, he develops his research activity in the field of audiovisual culture and design, video art and film studies, in research projects and in collaboration with entities outside the UMH, publishing in several international conferences and specialized publishing houses, such as Gedisa, McGraw-Hill, Octaedro, Cinestesia and the magazine Canelobre, and carrying out his own teaching projects and as a collaborator. It is worth mentioning his stay as a researcher at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Murcia) and at the KunstUniversität in Linz (Austria). Artistic and experimental activity reflected in more than 70 exhibitions and film festivals, within local, national and international competitive calls with prizes and mentions. Highlights: EAC, Contemporary Art Meetings, Centre Cultural d’Alcoi, Alcoy (2002); Talens Fund for Young Art, Galería victoria Hidalgo, Madrid and Espai d’Art Acea’s, Barcelona -purchase of works- (2002); Direction of photography, executive production and graphic design in the documentary Arcadeology by Mario-Paul Martínez (2020); Direction of photography 2nd unit, graphic design and poster design in Los Bengalas by David Valero (2020); Direction of photography in Hell West by Fran Mateu (2018). He is also President of the Editorial Committee of the International Congress of Fantastic Genre, Audiovisuals and New Technologies.
