Audiovisual languages and social culture

Associate professor in the area of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts at the University Miguel Hernández; Coordinator of Research and Educational Innovation at the Barreira Art+Design center, and director of the research group InnoBarr-Laboratory of Innovation and Creativity in Design. His research, generally oriented towards the relationship between audiovisual aesthetics and certain social controversies, has been presented in international conferences and publications including his book Vaseline in the lens. Drugs in Spain through the prism of media (2017, Luhu Editorial), in which he explores the connections between the social problem of drugs and its various media representations.

His artistic practice is located on the hinge that links video creation with experimental and auteur cinema. Jordà’s work is fundamentally characterized by the search of forms of narrative expression through the construction of visual essays and poems with a clear cinematographic influence, as well as multimedia installations that propose a formal reflection on our physical relationship with the audiovisual image, using images to discover links with our environment, with the media and with contemporary social rituals.
